I have an 87 Camaro with a 700R4 automatic transmission that is going or possible already gone; I sadly need to stick with automatics as my other half may drive it too.I‘ve heard a lot of bad things about the 700R4, other than this one going bad from being 20 years old, I don‘t have too much personal input on it. Is there a different model or transmission option I should consider when replacing? Also if you happen to know a good place to go get this replacement work done in the Orlando, FL area that would be a bonus.
When you go to a self serve carwash that has high pressure hose wands, direct the spray into and around the wheels to remove dust. It will take awhile for the water to burn off when you start driving, so proceed cautiously while applying your brakes.
That's normal. Ceramic pads still wear and the rotors wear too. You should have less dust with ceramic pads but it will still be there.
did you look at the pads.they are black just like ALL brake padsgo to walmart get a battery heald scrubber maching,,,every week clean ur wheels with some spray on cleaner,,,
Can't help you with the good place to get it done part but the tranny you have is actually an all around good one. I have seen many in trucks and cars with 200,000 plus miles and no problems come through our dealership. A rebuild shouldn't be hard to come by.
A 700R4 can be rebuilt and made into a stronger, better shifting transmission by a transmission repair shop. Corvettes used the same transmission at one point and had some heavy duty parts in them for higher line pressures and firmer shifts. Also, replacement parts are of better quality now than when your trans. was first built. Talk to a reputable trans. repair shop and see what they say but you can get a wicked tranny done and maintain the stock function of your car.
