I would ike to know if there is anything I can do myself. An easy fix, before I resort to call a technician and pay for fixing it?
You have to read what the unit is capable of performing the instructions should tell you !
I would definitely let him do it, but make sure he clearly knows that it's something you ONLY do when you see a fire and this is just a demonstration. I think it's great that he wants to be responsible and you should encourage him to learn and be prepared. Praise him for being so mature, but again make sure he knows when is the right time to do such a thing. I'm no expert with Aspergers, but my mom works with families that have kids on the autism spectrum and I always hear her encourage parents to have these kind of interactions with their kids, where you share an experience and teach each other lessons at the same time.
