Question:

Problem with melting copper with a propane torch?

I tried to melt a thin sheet of copper outside today with a propane torch. After about 8 minutes it only discolored a bit, but didn‘t turn red. Does anyone know what I can do?

Answer:

Propane won't get hot enough to do that. You need a combination of oxygen and mapp gas (or acetylene) to achieve what you are trying to do.
