Question about loom knitting a hat?

HiI'm trying to loom knit a hatBut it's turning out very looseI don't get itHow do I make it tighter? I'm following the instructions correctly.

Answer:

This one's specific to your textbook, so you're going to have to go thereI'm an archaeologist, and I have no idea about these ten steps of which you speakThings that you need to do are get permission from the landowner, determine if there is a site there, register the site with the state, determine the size of the site, do some research at the deed office if it's historic, and dig your holes where you think you have the best shot of finding stuffYou need to record everything, take lots of samples, study your artifacts, and write your paper, which you'll want to submit to a journal or the stateThat's a really broad overview, but maybe it'll help jog some brain cells.
The pins on a loom are quite far apart, and tend to produce an openweave fabric from thinner yarnYou can obtain a denser fabric by using thicker yarn - or, use double strands of thinner yarn for a density between the two which also has a little stretch; my last attemps I did that, and hte hat fits either my 3yo or my DH, just needs 'crumpling' up after DH to let the fibres relax and unstretch so DS can wear it again! HTH, L :)
