Question about my car alarm or security system?

I bought this used car about 3 years ago it‘s a 2001 Honda Civic and I guess it‘s brand is KARR because of the remote. There‘s nothing wrong with the alarm but I was just wondering about something. I remember the owner(the person who sold the car to me) said that the key is programmed to the engine or something. He gave me (2) keys to the car but only one is works in starting the engine up. Why is that? How can I make the other key work too?

Answer:

my gf has a 2000 honda civic. she also has two keys one to enter the car and one to turn it on. if this is the case heres what happened. your previous owner had the ignition lock(where you put your key in to start the car) go out and fixed it on a budget instead of going to a dealer. he got another key for that part when he fixed it and didn't care and now has two keys. if this is the case the only way to get one is to replace the ignition lock with one from the dealer and have them match it to your locks inyour doors. this cost will be around 250 for labor and everything. hope this helps
