Question on smoke detectors?

I am living in an apartment with a fire detection system that is integrated into the building. Earlier this evening. After stores are closed the fire alarm started giving the low battery warning beep. Its been going for 2 hours and driving me nuts. I don't have replacement batterys and I am afraid that if I try to change it my self I will set off the building alarm. What should I do? I can't sleep with this!

Answer:

Are you freaking SERIOUS?!? The guy did you a favor and checked your smoke detector! What he sprayed won't harm anyoneit's just compressed air that smells a little funny (I worked at a pre-school with 3-5 year olds and he sprayed the detectors with the children IN the same room!). It's not going to hurt you or anyone else. Apparently you WANT to die in a fire. Get a new detector already. They're not expensive. As for suing because of the chemical, it won't hold. And you'll be out lawyer fees. I'm guessing you'd probably sue if they checked the heat detectors and not the smoke detectors and then you had a fire and got burned because the smoke detectors didn't work either. Grow up.
