Raccoon Under My Deck!?

I have found a family of raccoons under my deck, how do I get rid of them, they are very noisy and I want to teach them a lesson so they won‘t come back to my house and pick through my garbage.

get a live trap and put a can of cat food inside it, trap them and haul them out into the country somewhere about 5 to 10 miles from your house and turn them loose. Wear gloves when handling the trap with the animals inside.

Everyday should be nice to dumb animals day.don't electrocute them it's dangerous not to mention might be illegal in your area. Also poisoning by antifreeze is illegal and dangerous in any state. You can't reason with wild animals teach them a lesson they are unaware they are doing anything wrong as you see it threw your eyes they are just looking for a safe place to live. Throw huge amounts of moth balls under the porch, they don't like the smell and will leave, then you can block them out with a material of your choice. Use good locking cans or put them in a confined space such as an outdoor hutch or garage.

follow these steps 1. buy 4 foot by 4 foot piece of sheet metal or sheet copper and screw it down on the porch. 2. buy a 2 foot by 2 foot piece of rubber shower bed mat and glue it in the center of the sheet metal. 3. buy a metal dog food bowl and glue it in the center of the rubber. 4. condition the raccoons to eating out of the bowl every night. they like cat food, crawfish, clams, and probably anything meaty. 5. buy an extension cord. 6. cut the female end off of the cord. 7. attach the black/hot lead to the dog bowl with a screw. 8. attach the white and/or ground to the sheet metal. 9. fill the bowl with food and make sure that there is no moisture closing the circuit between the bowl and sheet metal. 10. go back inside with the other end of the extension cord and plug it in. 11. wait and watch. make sure no people touch the contraption. hopefully the idea is that as they contact the sheet metal on the ground and the metal bowl with the hot lead it will electrocute them. they will at least not eat from the porch. you can modify this experiment by adapting it to your garbage cans with bands of copper around the lid. you can also avoid tripping the breakers by using an electric fence transformer. that device will deliver a better shock and be less deadly. you could also call a pest control professional and close off the underside of the porch, but cruel science is more fun.
