Answer:

Oh Boy!!! Another project pony!!! Yaaaay! We get to see him AND his offspring later! If you have no clue how to get a pony in hand and get him to walk on a lead why do you think you are qualified to BREED more? I've owned horses for 17 years now and I've raised exactly one foal. I'll never do it again. I now recognise that even after owning and handling horses for that many years I was not prepared for the realities of a young horse. If you don't have the two hundred dollars to geld him what will you do in an emergency? Horses are expensive, he'll soon get you for that $200.00 anyhow. Here are some of the things I learned from my trainer regarding handling young horses. Get a rope halterthe kind with the knots on the nose. Use that when leading him. When he acts up give one or two hard sharp yanks with the lead rope. He will soon learn to straighten up and walk right. Gelding him WILL calm him down and make him much easier to handle. I probably would have shot my youngster by now if I hadn't gelded him. He was absolutely impossible. Your little guy has not recognised you as the boss yet. Take a whip out with you. Not to beat him with it but if he tries to turn his rear end to you and kick you should give him one hard whap with the whip. Watch how the boss mare in the herd treats the others, they do not ever try to kick her. If they misbehave she comes after them with teeth and heels. Catching him in the fieldGo out to the fielddo nothing. Don't look at him but walk towards him. But do not look at him. Approach from an angle and stop when he starts to move away. Bend over and pretend to be interested in something in the grass. He will soon be dying of curiosity and come to see what you have. Hopefully you can get him interested in carrots or cookies and slip him one while you are digging through the grass. Repeat often. He will soon come every time just to see what you've got. Worked every time for my hoodlum youngster.
My story is when I was living in Ireland me and my girlfriend were getting romantic on the couch, candles were lit and a bottle of whiskey was on the coffee table near the candles, well my girlfriend decided to get frisky and she knocked over the whiskey bottle (Alcohol and fire not a good mix, and it hit all 3 candles and started a pretty big fire (luckily there was a fire extinguisher near to extinguish the fire. It also caught the blanket on fire that we were on. Then I didn't know where any of her ticklish spots were and I hit one and then she decided her elbow meets my nose and similar story a nose bleed but no blood in the hair. and yes this is a 100% true story.
