Real estate agents only! Question!!?

So my boyfriend and I are looking at a potential house nearby so we can be homeowners. He works for a contractor that remodels houses and I, on the other hand, am currently working nearly full time as a waitress. I heard some real estate companies won't sell a house to someone who works as a server/bartender. Is this true? Or does that depend on the company?SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY!! NO RUDE RESPONSES!!

Answer:

Never heard of that before. Real estate agencies don't choose who the house gets sold to, the home owner does.
I have been a real estate agent/broker full time since 1978. I sell homes to people all the time that have all sorts of employment. The only problem with servers is if the income reported to IRS is not enough to qualify for the loan. That would not be my decision but the mortgage company investors.
Never heard of that. Don't see why they would care. The only issue with that job is the limited income and getting any accurate proof of your tips.
Real estate agents don't care who buys the house. Their job is to sell the house to anyone that wants to buy it. The people you need to convince are the mortgage lender companies. Where you could have issues is that if a lot of your income relies on tips (eg waiters), some lenders do NOT count that money as your income and base what they lend on your basic wage, which will be pretty low.
Real Estate agents are not the people who qualify people for a loan. There is no reason why you would not be considered for a loan just because you are a waitress. Only your regular income would be considered, not any tips that would vary. Both of your incomes would be taken into consideration and, if you both qualified, a lender would tell you what amount you qualify for. That is the process and, no, it is not correct that they would not consider you.
