The head tube of my Specialized Sirrus frame has a shallow two inch crack half way down the headtubeCan I get it repaired by a welder or is it toast? I am still riding it for now but am getting nervous it might fail and dump me down the road.
i'm no longer responsive to a 'consumer-friendly', altho there could be oneFor any variety of headscarf (knit, crochet, sewn), I generally objective for 31/2 to 4 feet long and around 9 hugeI generally initiate with a length that would artwork for me and regulate it for the adjustments between me and the recipientin case you like it extra dramatic, make it longer (extra effective than 6 feet starts to get risky, tho).
using stockin stitch with a garter stitch boarder will still have the piece curl a littletry making the scarf in stockin stitch and then pick up stitch all around the scarf and work 2 inches or so of garter stitchthat way the scarf wont curl.
Good gosh, no.don't have it repaired, it's trashIf you have to continue riding it for awhile, get some wide hose clamps and cinch them up around the tube where you can, but by all means retire that bike as soon as possibleAlthough head tube metal is a bit thicker than other parts of the frame, it's not a good idea to have aluminum welded even with proper heat treating after the weld, especially on a critical part such as the headIf it fails, you're going down, and hard.not worth the risk I'd head to your local Specialized dealer and look into a warranty replacementThat's a very odd failure for any brand, but it's the first I've heard of anything similar on a SpecializedIt's possible that improper headset selection or installation could cause this, and if you happened to jump or offroad that bike (or hit a sizable pothole, etc) then they most likely won't warrant it in either caseThey may offer you a heavily discounted crash replacement frame, however, which is a good deal that you should consider taking Good luck with it.sorry it's a goner.
