I recently was cooking and my smoke detector was going off and when i went to twist it off the base on my ceiling the unit slipped out my hands and broke. My question is the base that i twist the unit into is still in the ceiling. Do I have to get the same model to fit or can anyone smoke detector fit? I know that I had to unplug from the ceiling and also had a battery inside. It is a Kidde model that is a smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector..I just don't want to buy the wrong thing that won't fit on the dock station that is on my ceilingthanks for any help
