Question:

Replacing speakers on my surround sound?

can i replace some 3ohm speakers with 8ohm tower speakers?

Answer:

With my receiver I can set my speakers to small or large, but the issue I had was that when they're set at large, nothing goes to my sub.
I would not recommend it at all. Those home theater in a box are not very reliable in the power rating they provide. By changing the speaker resistance it also reduces the power going to the speakers. If you had a receiver then it would be no problem at all, due to they are rated to handle speakers from 4 to 8 OHM. Hope this will help you out.
Yes you can but the amplifier will not deliver as much power to an 8 ohm load as it does a 3 ohm load. Also, 3 ohms suggest you are talking about an HTiB receiver which may not have the capability to change speaker settings. I assume the original speakers are much smaller than the towers? This means the receiver is probably permanently set to small speaker meaning your tower speakers will have no bass connected to this receiver. You will want to look in your receiver's menus to verify this, it might be possible to change the main speakers to, large speaker but I doubt. Most likely you will need to replace the receiver with a real one and discard the HTiB receiver. mk
this may be completely ineffective to you yet stressed audio device sound more suitable that instantaneous ones because of lesser variety of variables. imagine - transmission loss/ conversion loss etc.
