I‘ve noticed fewer and fewer car owners change oil at home. My old red steel car ramps were stolen out of my garage last month.I‘ve been changing my own oil since I got my license back in 1970.It‘s like a bad habit you can‘t stop, not fun in January. My old rampshad a 8 inch lift. I did find these Rhino ramps at a garage sale that havethe 12,000 limit. They only have a 6 inch lift like the set they also sellat Walmart. I suspect they are for a pickup truck that only need a few inchesclearance. I had this crazy idea to put some 2 x 4 x 12 on the garage floorand drive up on them first to get me at 8 inch lift. Any home oil changers haveany rituals getting under a small car. I would rather not use a floor jack and stands, not many strong spots on a front wheel drive car. I am watchingCraiglist for a used set.
There are plenty of solid lift points on front wheel drive cars, the entire frame of the trans-axle assembly is a very solid lift point. Then stands can be placed on the major sub-frame bracing points under the body of the vehicle.
i use them for most quick jobs and then i use jacks for other reasons like suspension work each car has jacking points generally same place you use to change a tire
