Question:

Rug Burn on Face, how to treat?

So last night I got rug burn on my face (fell on carpet and my face slid on it). My dad told me to let it air out, so last night i slept with nothing on it. This morning my mom calls and tells me a nurse she works with told her it needed to be really moist and hydrated, so ive had neosporin/aquaphor/aloe gel on it all day. The nurse said if it dries out and scabs it could scar, so keeping it hydrated wont allow it to scar. In the past couple hours a white layer has formed over most of the burn, what is this? And is this how I should be treating this burn?

Answer:

checked it with your doctor
Yes, you are doing everything right. The white stuff is just from the ointment. When you shower tonight or tomorrow morning just wash your face gently (no scrubbing) and pat dry. Put on more ointment. You don't need a thick layer, just enough to keep it moist.
