If stores do sell pre-cooked banana leaves that fine, but i want to know how to pre-cook themDo you boil the banana leaves until not hard, but not soggie? For what period of time can you freeze a tamal (corn, pork, sweet.ect) Ex:2 months? 1 week, how long? Thanks:)

my boyfriend and i came up with this mac n cheese recipe togetherwe had a blast doing it and the taste is excellent! 2 cups shredded mozzarella 2 cups shredded colby jack 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar 1 cup shredded pepperjack some parmesan cheese to sprinkle on top milk 1 bag of egg noodles cook the egg noodles until al dente (almost fully cooked, but still a little hard)spray an 8'x11' baking pan with PAM cooking sprayin a large bowl, mix the cooked pasta with all of the cheeseadd a little milk here and there to soften and moisten the mixture - pour a little at a time and mixthe pasta might look a bit dry but don't worry this is perfect! put the pasta into the 8'X11' baking panbake in 350 oven for about 30-35 minuteslet it cool for about 5-7 minutes, cut into squares and enjoy!
The leaves do not need to be cookedThey are not eaten, only used to wrap the tamale for steamingTamales can be stored, as can any food, indefinitely if is kept at 0-degrees Fand is wrapped properlyI like to wrap them in aluminum foil first (because that can be placed right in the steamer basket when it is time to thaw the tamales) and then wrap them again very tightly in several layers of plastic wrapThe idea is to keep all air out of the wrapping, because it is air that will cause freezer burn.
A couple of things I like to do with my daughter (7yo) stuffed french toaste; take 2 pieces of bread and spread whatever in the middle, we like peanut butter or cream cheese with berries, flavored cream cheese, anything you likePb and jelly is good tooPut the 2 pieces of bread together and then dip in milk and egg mixture, drop onto a hot buttered frying pan and cook on each sideServe with butter and syrup or berries or powdered sugarIts fun to try different mixesI have even done cheddar cheese in the middlePigs in blanketsWe use the canned biscuits and hot dogs or sausagesI like to slice the hot dog not quite all of the way through and stuff with cheese, then use 2 biscuits smashed together and rolled a little and wrap the dogWe usually leave the ends sticking out but you can cover completelyThen bakeAgain, try different things, smoked sausage, turkey dogs ecthomemade chicken tenders; take boneless chicken and cut into tender sizes or buy the tendersput a couple of eggs into a dish and scrambleIn another dish add some bread crumbs and seasonings of your choiceNow dip the chicken in the egg mix, then rolli n crumbs and drop into a frying pan with heated oilFry til brownedAgain, try different things added to the crumbs- parm cheese and italian seasoning is good, mex seasonings ect Fish nuggets take any kind of white fish, I use tilapia, cut into chunksmix a couple of eggs in a dish in another dish dump in some mashed potato flakes, add some salt and pepper and seasonings of your choiceDry fish on paper towels and then dip in egg, then flakes and fry in small amt of oilWhen browned they are donesuper good.
How about dumpling soup or fried dumplings? My family would make this together as a family It is pretty easy, just need to get some ready made dumplings skin from the store, most asian super markets should have them (get the one that says won tan, or something like that, not the spring roll kind, unless you want to deep fried them, the won tan skin can be both cooked in soup or deep fried) Then you guys can make the type of filling you want from scratch, you can use pork, prawns, cabbage, curried potatoes, everything is up to your imagination Then just have to either deep fry or cook it with soup.
Here is not only a fun and easy recipe to make, but it looks and tastes like it took a Lot of work!!!Oreo Balls 1 package of Oreos 1 8-ozpkgof cream cheese 1 pkgof vanilla bark (melting chocolate) Put the oreos in a food processor or blender or if you don't have either, put them in a plastic bag and smush the tar out of themMix in the cream cheeseIt will look like mudPut this in the freezer until it hardens upMake into little ballsPlace the bark in the microwave as directions sayRoll the balls in the bark and place on the waxed paperLet cool!!!!! Yum!! Some of my students begged for the recipe and went home and made themYou can put some chocolate chips in the microwave for a few seconds, put this in a baggie, cut the tiniest hole in the corner of baggie, and decorate the balls with zigzagsI made these for a shower with the bride's new initial on top.
