Question:

sealing ceramic counter tops?

Does anyone know if I should seal my ceramic tile counter tops and with what. I have the grout sealed but the tiles look dull.

Answer:

If you have ceramic tile it is not necessary to seal it. The tile is ceramic and then it has a coating baked onto to it to give it color. Usually ceramic tile is glossy. However, there is a finish called Matte. It will still be sealed but it won't be very shiny. This is by design. If you would like the tile to be shiny I would recommend using a product by StoneTech called High Gloss Lacquer. It is rated for exterior use so it will easily hold up to any of your demands. You just paint it on like you are painting a wall with a brush and roller. The lacquer also will provide much much more protection for the grout which always takes a beating on countertops.
