Question:

Should I buy braided stainless steel brake lines?

i have a 2003 r1 and ive heard good things about those, ive seen these on ebay: www.ebay.ca/itm/Venhill-Braided-Brake-Lines-2003-R1-Front-Rear-Chrome-Fittings-/120710443574?ptMotorcycles_Parts_Accessorieshashitem1c1ae73236#ht_3186wt_1163Is it worth it? i will go to the track a few times this summer and i just love performance. plus the carbon coated PVC looks awesome. is it hard to install?

Answer:

If you have the original hoses fitted to your bike then they are past their best. You will notice a considerable improvement in braking, it is worth also replacing the seals, the bleed nipples and cleaning the pistons while you are fitting the hoses. I got some Venhill hoses for one of my bikes, they came with easy to follow instructions.
James: I feel all performance bikes should have braided lines, especially if you go to the track. They give a firmer feel You cannot get a less performance motorcycle than my Savage, a 652cc single cylinder Cruiser. I use a braided stainless steel brake line. I ride the mean streets of Los Angeles and I need firmer feel more than someone on the track where you don't have cross traffic.
I feel all performance bikes should have braided lines, especially if you go to the track. They give a firmer feel, especially when the brakes are used a lot and getting hot. It's usually best to run two lines--one from the master cylinder to each caliper, rather than having a T-fitting: Eliminating the fitting makes it a lot easier to bleed the lines.
