I have a 1998 Honda Accord V6 coupe and im wondering if i should get an exhaust for it. I am 17 years old living in New Jersey. I dont really care if it gains any performance(but i wouldnt mind). What I am mainly conserned about is if I will grow out of it quickly. I want it mainly because they look good and i will enjoy the sound for awhile, but im hopeing I will not grow out of it. Please let me know your opinion on them and how old you are (if thats ok), and let me know if you have any personal experience.
if you want to spend the money on an aftermarket exhaust, then go ahead. you will most likely get some gains, not much because it'll flow better than the stock exhaust. if you wont want one too loud, then look for a smaller exhaust, like a 2.5 system, with a high flow cataliytic converter. be sure to do your research before you buy one, you'll be better off getting a big name exhaust, like hks, aem, mugen.stuff like that. im 23 years old, originally from new jersey, so definately be sure to get a high flow cat to pass the emissions inspection.
Honda puts in millions of dollars into RD for exhaust alone, and people go ahead and put after market mods. It is highly likely that there is no gain here with out pain. First you lose top dollars for the system for shortening your engine's life. I am from Jersey too, and I don't see any road for performance test after you spent the money. and yes, you'll grow out of it and you will burn those pistons sooner.
Don't get it, you are burning the candle at both ends. Modifying the car will shorten it's life. Yes, you will grow out of it!
