I‘m looking to buy a cold air intake for my car to improve performance. I‘ve seen where people put two into the same car, would that make a difference? Would I be wasting my money to add a second?
You did not indicate the color of the light,if it is orange it is more likely that it is a wheel sensor or wiring,if it is red then it is likely to be the ABS control unit, also make sure the master cylinder is full it will also turn the light on.The brakes will work just like normal brakes in the case of total failure of the ABS,you will still have power assist just not ABS
The 1999 through 2003 Chevy P/U had a problem with faulty wheel sensors and ABS modules that go bad. I am not sure if this affects your modle but you could ask to see the bulletins on those models. Or you could do a google search but you will get many responces. Gm seems to have a problem with this across the board.
You are wasting money buying one. Performance improvement that you feel costs money and involves more than a piece of plastic and a cone filter. Why not invest in better shocks/tires? You will actually feel the difference in the seat of your pants vs. hear a little intake noise and gain 1% power increase around redline.
A second is just for show. Engine will only ingest air flow it requires. To have it have a ram effect is only marginally helpful as to get more power we need more fuel plus ram effect on,y really works at high speeds. . Save your money. Cold air intake as in cooled rather than ambient? Is good .we get this a lot on diesel turbos and prove effective.
christian, plain and simple, regardless of your intake temperature, your ecm/u adjusts timing and fuel injector delivery and pulse. it is mapped to compensate for more or less dense air, then trim the engine management to keep performance and emissions right inside the map. it is little to no benefit. your vehicle came with a cold air id warrant. youd be better off not changing a thing, and having your ecm/u flashed for more performance instead of economy and driveability. with the level of engine management in use today, almost every, scratch that, every performance mod needs a new flash or set of data tables to even be half useful.
