Question:

should i install an Cold Air Intake?

i just bought a 2011 CR-Z Mugen, and i was wondering if it will help my performance and mileage if i install a AEM Cold Air Induction System. Im already getting about 29.4 MPG. If i do install it my warranty wont be void unless honda can prove without a reasonable doubt that the intake was the cause to any problem that occurs right? So do you guy think its worth putting a Cold Air Intake in this car?

Answer:

Its MUCH easier to ride a bike with a windshield/ windscreen. Its not your helmet or your posture, just the force of the wind. You can get one if you shop around, Ebay or Amazon, fr about 50 bucks.
I have answered this question so many times I am just to tired of it to go into details but NO. To get any performance upgrades out of it you will have to change many other expensive components as well as re-flash the ecm and blah blah blah. C.A. intakes are a crock, don't waste your money.
No, a chilly air intake does little to not something for a autos performance or gas mileage. The air gasoline ratio will stay a similar, and the O2 sensors gained't reason an SES mild to go back up.
Do not install a cold air intake. I realize this is a hotly debated topic, but in my experience, the manufacturer's intake that was specifically engineered / designed for your car is the best. The basic problem arises when you start making changes to the air intake, you also cause the computer to attempt to adapt to the new intake system, altered airflow and temperature of incoming air. You'll frequently have problems with your sensors when changing air intakes from stock to the after market intakes, and usually the only positive that results is the sound of the air intake. Performance is very rarely affected in a positive way by using an after market air intake since the computer will attempt to restore the original settings based on the original intake system for which it was programmed. Don't waste your money on this kind of stuff, spend it on the babes.
I agree you should take an MSF course. Your helmet probably just doesn't resist wind as well as something a bit more expensive. If you're uncomfortable, just tuck in under the wind screen more.
