Question:

Should i run lead Additive in my 1966 ford 289 c code ?

And what year did the stop putting lead in gas?

Answer:

Lead had to be gone in 1975, so some cars were changed before that. Had a '74 AMC Hornet that needed unleaded gas, but leaded gas was still available at the pumps.
The real purpose of lead was to lubricate the valves and seats, if you don't have hardened seats and can't find a lead additive, then look for a top oil to add to the gaspreferably something with zinc in it and also make sure you use a oil that contains zinc, like the racing oils and HD diesel oils Texaco introduces Fire Chief gasoline nationwide, a motor fuel that meets the federal mandates lead to mandating of unleaded gasoline in 1975 and later-model cars .This was for the new catalytic converters.
Burning lead in your gas was to keep the engine cleaned. Alot of older engines are recommended to use a lead additive. But you dont need to. Its wont do a whole lot for your engine. And i believe they stopped putting lead in gas in the early 70's but i could be wrong.
