Question:

Should I take a laxative?

I haven't passed a full bowel movement for maybe about 4 days nowI sometimes pass a bit in a day but it is too painfulI drink at least 4 glasses of water a day, eat flax and have lots of fresh fruits and veggies(including prunes)So I don't know what to doHelp please, should I take a laxative?

Answer:

You know you have to much fiber in you when you go poop and a whole peice of broccoli pops out your butt.
Before taking a laxative, ask for a stool softener at the pharmacyThat might work a bit better 4 glasses of water a day may not be enoughIt is summer and pretty warm most placesUp that water intakeIs your flax seed ground that you eat? that might make a differenceA quick, solution would also be a home made suppositoryIf you have bar soap at home, take a piece and carve a long narrow slice of soap about 2 inches long and as thick as your little fingerInsert gently and as fat up as you can into your rectum and wait as long as you canyou should be able to poop in about 10-15 minutesAn enema is also a good deal for a quick solutionSomething called a Fleets enema is also available at the pharmacyFollow the directions on the bottleWhile you may be just temporarily stopped up, I would still increase your water intake and perhaps, if you happen to eat a lot of cheese, cut back a bit as cheese is a known constipator.
Too much blocks nutrients from being absorbed and you spend a lot of time pooping.
Well If you have too much you will end up with DIARREHEA! Then you will knowAll your vitamains and everything will go flowing right through you - not real healthy nor FUN! LOL
If you add a lot of fiber suddenly to your diet that your body isn't used to, or you just basically have too much fiber in your diet (uncommon but possible if you eat lots of stuff like Fiber One cereal, fiber granola bars, etc), it can have bad effects on you, like feeling nauseated, gassy, cramping, feeling bloated, constipation, abdominal discomfort, or sometimes diarrhea If you added a bunch of fiber to your diet suddenly, try increasing your fiber intake gradually: over a week or so, work your way up from your normal intake to recommended intake Recommended fiber intake is 20-35 grams per day: women should have about 21 grams, men should have about 30Most Americans currently get 12-15 grams a day (not enough)More than about 50 grams is not recommended if you want to avoid all those side effects I listed above Also make sure that, along with your fiber, you drink lots of liquids!!! This combines with the fiber to help make your stools soft and healthy Hope that helped you! Stay regular :D
