Question:

Should my baby sleeping in my bed?

My baby is one month old and I need to know if it is dangerous for her to sleep in my bed? Also what kind of bed should we get her?

Answer:

my baby is almost 3months and has been sleeping with us since she was probably 3 or 4 weeks. when she was sleeping all the time she slept in her bassinet but since she started being up a lot more she realized she was in there and didnt like it at all. so we just put her in bed and she falls asleep on her own besides nap time. but i think its ok as long as you know she is there and dont roll over her at all thats dangerous. and no pillow and tight sheets no big blankets only baby blankets make sure she isnt next to anything that she can roll under and suffocate. even if they are so tiny they still might roll you just want to be safe. if you decide not for her to sleep in your bed get her a crib or even a bassinet until she is bigger
It is dangerous to have your baby sleeping in the bed with you. You can easily roll over on the baby or have the blanket over the baby's face..etc.. Buy the baby a crib that turns into a toddler bed so you don't have to end up buying both.
If you are following safe co-sleeping practices, then no it is not dangerous. -tight fitting sheets -no pillows or heavy blankets near baby's face -mum is a light sleeper -no drugs, smoking, or alchol consumption -no obesity -baby sleeps next to mum and not inbetween dad and mum -no sleeping on a couch
Co-sleeping is actually safer than sleeping in a crib if you practice it correctly. Bird flipping has given you some great advice (all I would add to that is to place the mattress on the floor for added safety), and if you want to read up on it further, Dr James McKenna has a fantastic website all about co-sleeping. If you co-sleep, then there's no need to get your child a crib, cot or bassinet, they can go straight from your bed into a single bed. If you still want to co-sleep but are scared of rolling on the baby, or you just need more room in your bed, then the Arm's Reach co-sleeper is great, I'm going to use one with my twins when they're born (although all my other children have just slept in the bed with me).
When my son was a new born he slept in a cradle beside our bed at night but for his naps during the day he slept in his room in his crib. Then by 4 months he was sleeping in his bed in his crib. He does sleep with us in our bed on some nights. I say if you feel comfortable with your baby in your bed with you then it is fine but if you do not feel comfortable and you worry something may happen then I would not suggest it, Do what feels right with you =).
