I'm looking into starting skateboarding, so I was looking at some other questions for beginner skateboarders. People who answered were saying things like you can get any type of trucks or bearings, etc. And I do not know what those are, call me a noob, but please tell me what these are so I can purchase my first skateboard. Thanks =)
Trucks are the metal axles and plates that mount to the board. They come in different sizes depending on what type of riding you plan on doing- the longer the axle the less turning radius you'll have. Bearing are small discs that contain tiny metal ball (bearings) that allow you wheels to spin freely once they are mounted on the truck-there are 2 bearing rings for each wheel (inside outside) . These also come in all types and generally the more expensive the bearings the more spin/speed you'll get. Hardware merely refers to the bolts nuts that hold the trucks to the board. These also come in all sorts of lengths and brands, but really they are mostly all the same. and don't forget some of the most important gear for a noob will be protective gear, helmet pads etc. Have Fun !
The trucks are the metal bodies that are fastened to the board and carry the wheels. The bearings are inside the wheels, you cant see them without taking the wheels off and removing them, they consist of an inner ring which slips over the axle, and outer ring with small precision lubricated balls between them. These allow the wheels to spin with very little friction. They are made in different grades, higher grade=more expensive= less friction.
Trucks are the axel and king pin that holds the wheels the bearings are the oiled spinners that go in the wheels to make them spin and spin fast you get 8 of these and 2 trucks and the hardware is the screws and bolts that hold the trucks to the deck which is obviously the piece of wood on top for a good skateboard it will cost about $160. order a skateboard from here its the best place
