I heard that Bones Swiss ceramic bearings are good for skateboards, But some of my friends say that they‘re only suppose to be used on long boards because on skateboards they break easily. Is this true? Should I only be using steel bearings for my skateboard. Because I don‘t want to end up paying 100$ for bearings that I‘ll just be throwing in the garbage because I landed my skateboard to hard. Thank you!-Beginner Skater
Basically, from my understanding, bones swiss ceramics and bones reds are practically the same thing just the ceramics will last longer because they are ceramic. If you get bones reds and take care of them, (don't get them soaked and not dry them, and take them out and re-lube every other month or so etc.) they will be fine for awhile and save you a lot of money, in general I would not buy ceramics unless I was a guy with money who was racing competitively.
The battery is history, plan on replacing it, along with the tires and and rubber fuel lines. You should also expect to have to rebuild the carburetor(s). Does the engine turn over with the kicks start? The rings may have rusted to the cylinder(s) and you may need to rebuild the engine. You have to look at this as a project, and go through the whole bike to make it right.
You can have ceramic bearings they'll last you more than 5 years if you take care of them. thats right, 5 years. Not just ceramics but even regular boens swiss will last you that long just clean them regularly.
there is basically approximately no distinction between abec 5- abec9. The abec score device shows the tolerances with which the ball bearings are synthetic. So the sole distinction between an abec 5 bearing and an abec 9 bearing is a controversy of microns. yet in spite of this ceramic bearings are extra effective. yet no longer properly well worth the money bones reds are the terrific bearings ever.
Everything needs to be replaced. Anything rubber should be replaced. Hoses, tubes, tires, gaskets, seals. There's definitely rust anywhere liquids used to be. Tank, Carbs, Valves. You'd need to take the engine apart and clean then lube stuff up in there so the parts can move freely. You'd basically be rebuilding the bike.
