Question:

Slip ons or complete exhaust system for 2007 1100 Vstar Classic?

I want my bike to have a deeper and slightly louder exhaust sound. Something that will not be obnoxiously loud. Should I get a complete exhaust system or buy some slip ons? Which ones will give me the sound I‘m looking for? Also, do i need to re-jet the carbs? Thanks,

Answer:

complete system offers bigger diameter header pipes, and get a complete system that is routed a different way so you don't have to remove your front pipe to change the oil filter
there is no reason a bike needs to be capable of going from 0-triple digits within 2 seconds or less. there's no reason for race type bikes to be sold to the public. u'll never see a formula1, nascar, or other racer sold to joe shmo. 650cc's is plenty for a rice rocketand even that is too much for the typical squid that has no clue how to ride. cruisers isnt geared like these rockets, and they're much heavier. it's the squids that's the #1 reason why the non-riding public HATES bikes of all typescruisers or sport. especially these morons doin the 1 mile wheelie down the i-10, lane splitting at mach 1, passing in clearly marked no-passing zones.and in a blind corner to boot. obviously, joe taxpayer has been lightin a fire under some politicianor should that be 'comrade' to do something about the squid problem. in the states, if u want to drive a 18 wheeler, u have to seriously earn the privledgeand everything else that goes with that truck. u cant drive a semi that has air brakes unless ur endorsement on the cdl specifies u can do air brakes.or tankers, or double/triple trailers, etc. we have no system at this time for bikes. maybe we should do the way of the ukif u want a high powered bike, u best be able to settle for riding a 'leaf blower' for a couple years.
Vance and Hines is your best bet for the Yamaha Vstar, it has the deep sound , There is a web sight that you can listen to different pipes on different bikes ,Just punch in Motorcycle Pipes and you will find it or hopefully someone after me knows the sight
If you're just looking for louder exhaust then go with Slip-ons, they will give you the same benefits of sounds as a full exhaust without the hefty price tag. Also with slip-ons you will NOT need to get a jet-kit, only if you were to get the full exhaust. Cobra, Hard Krome, and Vance Hines are the big names out there that all make some nice slip on exhaust. The straight pipes or drags pipes are going to be the loudest. Also the shorter the pipe the louder. Most of them will come with the baffles in (still sounds reallly nice) but you can remove them if you wish you wake up the neighbors in the morning.
Of course not! As many have said, motorcycles are inanimate objects and as such do not have malice as part of their nature. They simply do what the rider tells them to do, and with shows like SuperBikes! (or StupidBikes) on television making every 17-year-old think they can be an instant stunt rider it's no wonder bills like this are suggested. It takes skill and time to learn how to ride a motorcycle well, and teens rarely posess the patience or experience to keep themselves and others safe when they twist the throttle. I have a better proposal: don't issue a motorcycle endorsement to anyone under 25. Their insurance would be cheaper (and so would ours when the statistics swung closer to reality), they would have a few years behind the wheel of a car learning about traffic and other dangers, and the flood of testosterone would have subsided a bit. Motorcycles are a priveledge, not a right; you should be required to earn it.
