Question:

Small upper pallet and teeth pulling?

So when I was younger my parents took me to a doctor to get braces (my teeth were/still are just a train wreck), he told them that before I could get braces I would have to use this retainer for a year that I would adjust every two weeks in order to widen my upper pallet because it was too small (which is also assumed to be the reason my teeth have turned out so misaligned.). This was a fail as I kept losing it and just down right HATED keeping it in 20 hours a day.Isn't their another way of dealing with this whole quot;small upper palletquot; issue? I could have sworn I've heard of other's with the same issue who simply had some teeth pulled.

Answer:

My friend had one. You'll talk weird for the first couple of days. Sort of like a lisp. After a while you'll get use to it. Yes it is painful for a few days too, but it stops. (That is until you have to crank it again) Just stock up on Apple Sauce, Pudding, and Mashed Potatoes. They'll save your life. :)
i had one a year or two ago, and it really wasnt that bad. for the first few days my teeth hurt a bit and i had a sort of lisp, but that went away pretty quick. when you have to turn it, it really doesnt hurt, you just feel weird pressure on the bridge of your nose. i ate everything i normally do, although not bubble gum, because trust me, that stuff really sticks.
