pete's right actually, its an emissions problem, something with your emissions system isn't working correctly that list is pretty accurate but you need to also add in the EGR valve, that happens quite a lot as well, misfiring plugs, if bad, would result in a blinking CEL, an air pump for your cat could also cause the light again, quite common to happen where i live, bad cat, O2 sensors, anything thats releasing HC (unburnt fuel such as gas cap loose) NOx (oxides of nitrogen, when your cylinders get above 2,500 degrees Fahrenheit) or CO (carbon monoxide, byproduct of burning fossil fuels) coming out of your tail pipe, could be a ton of things go down to your local autozone and get the code read.
