Question:

Starting a ceramics business?

I have an opportunity to purchase 2 kilns and over 5000 molds for $2500.00. Was told the kilns hadn‘t been fired since the business owners death 2 years ago. I have vast knowledge in sales0 knowledge of ceramics. I can pay myself and my bills for 8 monthsis this enough time to gain a working knowledge of ceramics and produce saleable goods? Is this a good business to get in?

Answer:

Hi-I own a flea market and one of my vendors is 70ish or so and she keeps trying to sell her ceramics here. She also has the kiln and thousands of molds. I will have to say that while her items are beautifully painted and always looks nice, she sells zilch of them. Ceramics are very 1980's and no one wants to pay what you have to sell them for since you have a lot of time and labor involved. Unfortuantly China has mass produced that market. You might really want to look into this before sinking in your 8 months of savings. I know here in the midwest it is a sinking ship that is going down fast. Sorry to burst your bubble.
honestly you dont gain anything by adding a cat back. its all about sign waves and frequency wave lengths. install a low back pressure muffler or even a glass pack and then make a tuned exaust by ending the tail pipe at the point of the positive wave length this will form a vacume at the end of the pipe sucking the exaust right out the back. this method is used in formula 1 racing and in wet exaust systems for boats. any d.b. meter will show you the point of the positive wavelength.
