Question:

steps to replace a GMC sierra transmission?

Its a 2000 GMC sierra and i was wondering what steps i need to take in order to replace the transmission.

Answer:

Not too bad. You need a transmission jack or a cradle for a floor jack. Start by removing the driveshaft by taking the bolts out of the u yoke on the rear end. Support the trans with your jack. Take out the long crossmember bolt, followed by the crossmember. Then take the starter motor off and unplug the harness. Take the 6 bellhousing bolts out and back the trans off the engine and torque converter. Then just let the jack down, taking the trans with it.
