ok so fur my new room i want to put thoughs strings of lights around the room, but my mom says she thought they were dangerous, so are thoughs strings of lights dangerous?
I tried that on some shelves on the wall, they look pretty but after awhile the whole string blows......I would not advise it.......
no they are not dangerous they are low voltage and if there is a problem with one of the lights they all go out i would be more concerned about trailing wires than the lights themselves, make sure you secure them properly and they will be fine, all 3 of my children have them in various forms, net curtains of lights, strings and the ropes, we have had various ones for years and over the years, never had a problem with any of them
When I was 13 I put lights all over my room and it caught on fire. I almost caught our entire house on fire. I am now 27 and would tell you its not a good idea. but if you really want lights the best one would be rope lights they don't get nearly as hot compared to other ones.
Do you mean rope lighting? Or Christmas string lights? Rope lighting has mini bulbs or LED's encased in a vinyl or plastic flexible tube. You cannot change the bulbs if one burns out. Christmas string lights have individual bulbs that can be replaced on a string (the kind you'd decorate a tree with). Neither type is dangerous per se though the rope lighting tends to be more versitle for general lighting. You can use the rope lighting for under/over cabinet lighting in a kitchen and I've seen it used as a type of home theatre lighting. Rope lighting also tends to stay cooler than Christmas string lights, especially if you get a more expensive LED rope light. The Christmas string lights are best used for temporary Christmas decorating so I'd steer clear of them for keep in my room all the time lighting. An 18 foot white rope light (home improvement stores should carry them year round) will probably set you back $10-$20. They also come in green, red, blue, and multi-colored.
