I have 2 clean my hamsters cage 2day, (its been exactly a week.) I ran out of hamster bedding. I am going 2 petsmart on friday. thats 4 days away. what can i use as a substitute? i have a 6 week old male robo hamster.
You could shred some cardboard but whatever you do do NOT use cedar bedding because it can harm the hamsters health... Hope I was a help!!!
Hello! There are plenty of things you can use for bedding. You can use toilet paper, newspaper, construction paper, or regular paper. I suggest for you to use toilet paper or newspaper. Make sure your Hammy doesn't eat it though, for it is not good for Hammies to eat. I hope I helped!
You could shred up toilet paper or tissues, but you'll have to clean out wet spots a lot since it is so absorbent.
Paper towels work the best in times like this. You can lay down paper towels along the bottom and then put some shredded ones on top so that he can nest in them. This will last until you can get him some more bedding. And like another said, don't use pine or cedar as they are toxic to small animals.
How badly soiled is the bedding? Maybe you could pick out any wet bedding, leaving the rest. Then fill in with shredded bath tissue. Wash any accessories that are soiled, and do the big cleaning after you buy the new bedding.
