Question:

Switchable Cold Air Intake and Snorkel?

So I‘ve seen some pros and cons to cold air intakes and snorkels for Jeep Wranglers. Intakes gather too much dust when off-roading, and snorkels is like breathing through a straw when using my Jeep for my daily job and school. Is it possible to make a switchable CAI and Snorkel? For daily use, I could switch it to to CAI but whenever I go off-roading just simply switch to a snorkel.

Answer:

No. A quality air intake like KN or Airaid will prevent dust from entering the intake and if your really worried about it just put a prefilter on it. Many folks run the intake into the firewall just below the hood cowl and stick a cone filter in the tube. A snorkel is not that restrictive to be like sucking it through a straw. I say just leave it as the OE air box and use an aftermarket OE replacement washable filter.
Not ever seen a switchable one. Seems like a lot of work for a very small return.
