Question:

that little attic ceiling fan?

can we cover it up in the winter? it lets ALOT of cold air inthe attic is behind my daughter bedroom and her room is freezing all winter.we are in wisconsin, 2 story homethank you :)

Answer:

Toothpaste, not tooth gel, is the best cleanerTo keep it shiney longer, store in an airtight container, or a ziplock type bag with all the air squeezed outAir oxidizes on sterling silver, making it look dull Hope this helps! (I have a tamborine that I have to store in airtight container or the little cymbals get dull looking.)
Don't do itThat is an exhaust fanFresh air comes in through the gable or soffit vents and is pulled out by the fanThat keeps air moving through the attic and lessens the chance of mold, etcThe problem is the wall between the attic and your daughter's bedroomIt needs to be better insulated on the attic sideGo to a home center or hardware store and explain what the insulation will be used forIf there are already batts on the wall you can use unfaced batts over themIf there is no insulation you need to use faced batts with the facing on the wall side and the insulation toward the atticThe both come in rolls and aren't hard to installBe sure to wear safety glasses, long pants and shirts, and wear a paper mask to keep fibers out of your lungs.
I have a sterling silver chain that gets horribly discolored when I wear it (it must be my skin or something.) I've found the easiest way to clean it and bring back the shine is a little baking soda, very little water, and an old soft toothbrush After you have it all polished up, use an old t shirt to buff it and shine itStay away from paper towels, they might scratch it!
Silver jewelry dip.You soak it in the container with the solution for about a minute pull it out and brush it with the little brush that comes with it, then rise it in warm water and let it air dry or dry it with a soft clothI think the brand is called ConnoisseursThere are also silver anti-tarnish clothes made by 3MThey look like little gray felt squares and you place them in whatever you keep the jewelry inFor example, if you have a jewelry dresser, you lay the cloths in the drawers where you have your silver at.
