Question:

That rug really ties the room together...?

I have dark brown (medium chocolate, I'd call it) warm modern style leather sofa and love seat in a white room with 10 foot ceilings (I can't paint). The floors are oak, as is one book case (modern lines, arts and crafts style detail). The feet of the sofa are a dark walnut color. The accent pieces in the room will be yellow hues (artwork, vase, throw pillows). What sort of area rug should I get? Colors, patterns? Links to examples would be awesome. I'm getting more furniture, but I think the rug could really warm up the room. I'm concerned about getting something that looks too country or contemporary against the modern lines of the furniture.

Answer:

Go okorder I thought #60 #66500 and style 05 were nice. some were a little pricey but you can get ideas and then go anywhere you want.
you could get a rug with warm colors like the chocolate and yellows and reds with squares on it. That would look good. I would just look for something in the same colors that you already have.
those are the colors in my living room. I bought a really cool rug in Victorian red. It dosnt shout. but gives the room unique style. and it is aw some! red would warm of the room also without being over powering ! Good luck i am decorataing also!
I would guess something in a med to large rectangle shape, where the wood floor would show around the edges, with med.size patch squares, in colors of terra-cotta, gold, rust, orange, med.brown, cream. I can't figure how to get a site set up on here, But you can try going to a walmart, big lots, k-mart store, I know I've seen the pattern i mention at big lot, but whether they still have it, im not sure, home depot, has a lot to pick from. I hope I've been of some help.
A rug with geometric motifs or pattern would be best to emphasize the straight lines found in the rest of the room... adding more straight lines in the rug would do so by repetition, and circles would accomplish the same but by contrasting against your straight lines instead. Look for a rug with beiges, browns, rusts, golds, and maybe some grey-blue or grey-green just to add some additional interest.
