Question:

The engine that powers a crane burns fuel at a flame temperature of 2000 deg Celsius?

It is cooled by 20 deg Celsius airThe crane lifts a 2000 kg steel girder 30 m upwardHow much heat energy is transferred to the engine by burning fuel if the engine is 40% as efficient as a Carnot engine?

Answer:

Yes you canIf it's the flexible aluminum vent hose you can use a knife to cut it all around until there's only the small wire left, you can use any type of wire cutters to cut that wireIf it's a solid metal vent pipe you'll need to use a hacksaw to cut through thatBe very careful after you cut it, it will have extremely sharp edges there and will easily cut you, wear a pair of leather gloves to keep you hands fingers safe from cutsYou can use a file or sandpaper to smooth dull those sharp edges before reinstalling the pipeCheck outside the home where the dryer vent comes out too, sometimes it gets clogged there from the lint and condensation, in winter that will freeze into ice tooThe dryer will not dry properly if the lint trap or vent isn't kept cleanThat will also cause it to heat up too much which is causing the smell of fire, it will cause a fire tooThose typical lint screens/traps do not stop all the lint, some lint gets past them over time some will build up in under the dryer as well as in the vent pipeIf you have a bottom panel under the dryer door it's a good idea to remove that and clean there under the dryer too, the heating element is also under there and usually found in the rear areaIf you see lint there be sure to unplug the dryer before you try cleaning anywhere close to that heating elementThey do have a long dryer lint brush you can buy at Lowe's, Home Depot, etcin their appliance department, it makes it easier to clean out the lint buildupIt's one of those scheduled cleaning things we have to do on occasion around the home.
I take it your vent hose is NOT the vinyl type hopefully ? When installing a dryer vent, you want to always have it exit to the outside in the MOST shortest distance. If your vent is a solid metal with elbows from the dryer to the outside vent, make it as short as you can.The exit vapor is ALWAYS moist and that helps to NOT have the lint catch fire. You may want to always clean out your lint filter on the dryer door or where ever its locatedSome lint always gets through to exit the dryer vent, but there shouldn't be a smell of fire. That leads one to surmise something isn't right with the lint filter. If your using a plastic vent, get rid of that immediately and switch to aluminum. The solid over the FLEXIBLE.The lint door filter should be cleaned after EVERY loadThe FLEXIBLE vents collect lint in the crevices and can lead to a fire.Hope this helps.Good Luck SCOTTY
