Question:

The Qur'an says the Earth is like a rug?

No one has ever seen a spherical rug. Why did Allah not use the word quot;Kurahquot; (Arabic for spherical) before the word quot;Earthquot; like all Arabic texts do today?

Answer:

A rug? So you don't know Arabic and you don't know any English. Quran Verse 2:22 { Allathee jaAAala lakumu al-ardaFIRASHan wassamaa binaan} which translated {[He] who made for you the earth a bed and the sky a building} FIRASH means a bed In both English and Arabic it is used in the same sence: like when we say a flower bed, a seed bed, a planting bed ... etc. I think you are and idiot who is going to Hell. Add: Quran verse 39:5 {Khalaqa assamawati wal-ardabilhaqqi YUKAWWIRU allayla AAala annahariwaYUKAWWIRU annahara AAala allayliwasakhkhara ashshamsa walqamara kullun yajreeli-ajalin musamman ala huwa alAAazeezu alghaffar} Kurah (a round spherical object) and Kawwira ( to make spherical) are both derived from KAWARA which means to make round or spherical. .
Salam.Yes in the Qur'an 51:48 Allah says that Allah created this earth just like spreading out a rug which means it is very easy for Allah in making this earth just like spreading out the rug.in certain minutes only.It does mean that the form of this earth is just like a rug.Allah knows best about all words used in the Qur'an.We people have some difficulties in interpreting its meanings such using ardh or kurah for earth.
Hmm.... are you being deliberately simple, or have you never came across geology in school? The correct description for the Earth crust is a rug. As like a rug it's spread over a surface but not tied or nailed to it. We know this today as earthquakes occur when this rug shifts in some places to either level out, or bunch up like a loose end. It has nothing to do with spherical as you're implying. It's purely talking description and not shape.
