Yeah, some do. There are some which don't go off so easily (like every factory alarm I've ever had) which would be great if it weren't for all the shitty ones out there making everyone ignore ALL car alarms. OTOH, you should know the sound of YOUR alarm, and if you're at home and hear it, you know something's up. So they're not UTTERLY useless, just not as useful as they could be.

I have two neighbors with car alarms that go off 3 - 4 time a week each. And all for no apparent reason. They don't even wake me up anymore. Now that I think about it the 3 - 4 time is during the day. I'll bet they still go off at night. If I though they would get the message I would report the alarm to 911 every time it happened.
