The pipes in my laundry room make a clicking noise when water, mostly hot water, goes through them. I have a new home so everything‘s under warranty. They sent a plumber in who said it‘s just thermal expansion and nothing to worry about in terms of pipe damage and water leakage. I think they would fix it for free if I like, but that would involve taking out a chunk of the wall, and replacing it assumingly with drywall. The house has a 10 year warranty and if there ended up being water damage in the future I‘m confident they would take care of it so that‘s not an issue. If this is something more serious, or could be something more serious down the road, I think I have to get it fixed.Does anybody who knows this stuff have any advice? Thanks.
As hot water passes through copper pipes, the heat from the hot water makes the copper pipes expand, and this is the clicking noise you hear. It is quite normal and nothing to worry about. No matter what pipe clips you try, it will always happen . Don't waste your money on any alternative remedy. My hot pipes do it all the time.
my laptop! its only like 2 months old i would HATE to loose it in a fire! maybe my teddy bear to, i know it sounds dumb but it holds alot of memories for me and its special. oh ya and the 10 doller bill that ive got on my desk :D
If you felt as though you had enough time to grab things get the most valuable. But most important thing is family and documentation and money I'd say. and then whatever you can grab worth risking your life for!
This dilema will get worse over time. The plumber was sloppy with his work. Plumbing noises used to be a normal event-way back in the '1920-40's. Any plumbing done now,if done correctly, is totally silent when utilized. You have a ligitimate compaint! Be sure to document every nuance with reciepts and letters and such! Who knows what you'll face 10 yrs from now in this reguard! The plumbing installers and hardware suppliers tend to blame each-other for major failures. It's a game that takes more than a class-action civil suit to begin some kind of remedy. The best plumbing is done in England. They are the benchmark to which all others aspire!
If you want a quick fix that will last use marine silicone, get it at boat stores it works like a charm. Its a pretty good price too it is meant to withstand water pressure. If they dont have marine silicone at the boat store take a plastic tube slice one side and fit it around the copper piping with the crack, next melt it slowly onto the pipe this should work. If your into more expensive stuff weld it, but make sure the temperature isnt too high just enough or it will melt the copper pipe and also make sure your using a metal that melts at lower heats definetaly not iron. Happy fixing! If you have any more questions email me!
