Black Metal is, but Folk Metal too. I find both to be very appealing to me. I haven't heard anything that can make me feel the way I do when I listen to some epic Black or Folk Metal bands.
Groove metal is one of my faves now. Stuff like In Flames and (I don't care what people say they fall into the groove metal catagory) SlipKnoT are good examples. Rap metal has lost alot of respect with douches like Linkin Park and such. Metal in general is good. Lamb of God, All That Remains, Disturbed(more hard rock now but the sickness WAS metal), Mudvayne, ect. All good bands and all Heavy. I love to beat up people who listen to Justin Bieber to LoG! LOLZ
Melodic Death Metal for sure. I do listen to quite a lot of different sub-genres of Metal, but Melodeath is definitely my favourite. Others sub-genres I enjoy include Black Metal and Power Metal.
Right now, I like any kind of metal that doesn't have growls (or at least, not that many). I tend to go for classic thrash metal (Metallica, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath), and recently I've listened to some doom metal songs (Candlemass, Lamented Souls). I love how those guys (in doom) sing! Cradle of Filth is good too for a gothic metal kinda sound.
