How old is your smoke detector? After a period of 8-10 years they should be replaced regardless of whether or not they are still working. Some are even programmed to go off when they reach that point. If yours is that old buy a new one if not go ahead and grab a new battery and see if that helps if not it may just be defective.
Where I live there are a lot of neighborhoods that have speed bumps, some of them pretty big, but my 06 Tiburon GT has never bottomed out on one.
