what speed transmission does NOT need a dipstick to check it and why?best answer to whoever gets it.
VW makes sealed transmission that are automatics. I am sure there are others that do the same. As long as the tranny is not leaking there is nothing to do to it.
some gm cars do not have dip sticks that are automatics. their is 2 plugs you take out one on top and one on the side fill it up threw the one on the top untill it runs out. now for a anouther tranny is in 10 wheelers or tractor traylors thay are any whar from 8 speed to 18 speed manual transmission thay dont have dip sticks just a plug on the side you pull and if gear oil runs out its full. not shure on the reason for no dip stick other than the drivers do a pre trip inspection befor they move the truck every day and if a tranny is not leeking oil and was full when it was checked last it will still be full so their is no need to check it other than routine mataince
Standard transmissions don't have dip-sticks because there is no need for one. They have oil fill holes and oil level sight holes. Nearly all automatic transmissions have dip-sticks. Automatics are more prone to cooling line leakage to the fluid cooler inside the radiator. You also need a dip-stick for the exact same reason the oil pan does. The answer is to check the automatic transmission fluid level. Please clarify what a speed transmission is?
