Question:

transmission tune up?

What exactly is a transmission tune up?How much is it?How would I know if I needed a transmission tune up?

Answer:

If you take it to an automotive shop depending on the car, it could be; 1) Transmission Fluid Exchange or Flush. 2) Transmission Pan Gasket Filter. Normally shops will do this up to about 150k miles. If you take it to a Transmission Shop, they cost more, but are more thorough with the tune-up. They normally tighten all bolts to proper torque and inspect your insides of the transmission and replace the filter and gasket I'd say at a normal shop you'd pay around $120 - $130. Trans Shop $160 - $180. It's recommended at certain mileage depending on the car.
