Question:

Turning a cheap guitar into a good one ( acoustic)?

Okay so here's where I'm atI have a lot of time on my hands before I go off to college and I'm pretty quot;Artsyquot;I've decided to try and transform a Guitar than try and learn how to play it My friend has an old guitar that he doesn't want anymore , all I know is that its a cheap black guitar I was planning on taking it apart sanding down the body and doing a custom paint job with acrylic paint than putting an oil-based poly gloss on itI want to replace everything else ( neck , bridge , strings ,tuning machines , ETC ) I was just looking for advice on brands and everything since I'm new to guitars I KNOW this sounds like a waste of money because I could just buy a decent guitar for what I'm going to be spending , but I don't really care because for me its about the project not the costHowever , I'm looking for the total cost to be under 1.5k a little more if absolutely necessary Thanks for the advice
