updating my motorcycle from 6v to 12v?
I did a google search for 6 volt halogen motorcycle headlight There are quite a few sites that offer new headlights that are 6 voltYou may be able to convert the bike to 12 volt but you will have to use a dropping resister on the coil to prevent it from burning upI am not sure if the mag produces 30 volts or not but you will need a voltage regulator to prevent the battery from overchargingI once converted a crane from 6 volt positive ground to 12 volt negative ground and it worked very well but I had to use a 12 volt alternator some dropping resistors on the gauges and coilThe starter seemed ok with the extra voltageIt turned over a little faster so it started easier and we did not have to use the starter very long so it didn't overheatThe reason for this conversion was because it was a truck crane and the truck portion was 12 volt negative ground but the crane was 6 volt positive groundIf the crane didn't start you couldn't use the truck to jump start itThat was a real p i t aMy suggestion to you is to get the 6 volt battery and a 6 volt halogen headlight and save yourself a lot of headaches trying to convert this to 6 voltHope this helpsGood luck and happy motoring Additional: I like your additional replyVery relevant to that a-ho_ e.
