Question:

Use my moms car jack for my car? emergency!!?

I have a 1992 Cadillac fleetwood and I need to pit in the spare. But it has no Jack. Can I use my moms Jack to lift my car? She has a 07‘ Toyota solara if it matters. Thanks. Its an emergency! !

Answer:

Put on spare, I assume? Her jack for a smaller vehicle may not lift your larger and heavier car, and it can damage it to try. Jacks aren't expensive, so if you could get up to a parts store, get yourself a nice bottle jack or floor jack then you'll have one.
Well I dont know anything about how rusty your car is, or what kind of jack she has. But here in the uk most jacks that i have come across are usable on any car, subject to obvious weight limitations - you. Wouldnt want to use a little car jack on a big lorry. But the fact that you are asking the question makes me think maybe you should leave the job to the experts. If the jack slips serious injury can result, so make sure it is safe and that passing traffic is not a hazard.
You are probably about to hurt yourself. Just go and get a jack. Decisions made in panic are often bad ones, whether related to cars or anything else in life. You know the right thing to do, so do that.
