Question:

Using a vacuum cleaner on metal swarf?

Is it safe to use a vacuum cleaner to pick up aluminum swarf? I recently cut many pieces of aluminum sheet and tubes with my metal cutter, of which left lots of aluminum swarf around my workshopThe swarf is cold, and has cutting fluid on it (I use it to keep the swarf cold).

1 Tbs dijon mustard 1 Tbs honey 1 minced garlic clove 1/2 tsp thyme or oregano Juice of 1 lemon or 3 Tbs vinegar Combine all of the above ingredients, then slowly drizzle in about 6 Tbs of extra virgin olive oil, whisking the mixture the whole timeThe mixture should form an emulsion, meaning the oil is suspended in the other ingredients creating a consistent textureSeason with salt and pepper to taste.
Basically, as long as you combine 1 part liquid, be it vinegar, apple juice or wine, to 3 parts oil you can add any other flavors and make a vinaigretteThe ratio may change slightly depending on the other ingredients but not by muchFor instants if you add dijon mustered it probably won't take quite as much oilOr if you add an egg yolk you definitely will not need all the oilThe thing is, If you combine all other ingredients first and then begin adding the oil slowly as you whisk or mix in a processor you just need to stop when the mixture reaches the viscosity that you like.
