Question:

Using cast iron shower mixer with copper pipes.?

I just purchased two really nice Price Pfister shower mixers, heads, etc. for my bathroom remodel. Today I‘m getting around to installing them and I have discovered that the model I have is the cast iron model with threaded connections. My hot and cold water lines are 1/2 copper. I see that Price Pfister makes this same mixer with copper connectors. Can I use the models that I already purchased? Are there copper to cast iron adapters that can be put in place? Or do I have to return these and find copper models.I‘m led to believe that it doesn‘t matter since Price Pfister doesn‘t even put the fact that it‘s cast iron on the outside of the box. Thanks to all plumbing gurus!

Answer:

IT'S CALLED A DIE-ELECTRIC UNION. HTIS / OR A SECTION OF CPVC PIPE IN-BETWEEN THE 2 WILL HELP STOP THE PROBLEM!
you will need to install an insulated connector between the copper iron pipes to prevent electrolysis
