I was wondering if that was safe, I heard one of the signs of carbon monoxide is a headache and I had a really bad one in my sleep for some reason like it was a side effect of what was happening to me in my dream but after I woke up it started to fade away.like when u cry in a dream and you have a couple of tears when you wake up but you aren't actually crying. If you have problems with animals then normally a lantern will keep them off, Ive fished in the Canadian Rockies and because of the bear threat took my 30.30 just in-case, but otherwise i don't see the need, i find if you don't do any thing to them they will leave you alone.
If the door handle just came off, I wonder if you aren't just missing the set screw that holds the doorknob onto the spindle. That is a simple, inexpensive repair you can do yourself with a screwdriver. Look at the other side of the doorknob; you should see a little screw that is almost flush with the base of the knob. That's missing on the side of the door where the knob fell off. If you want to get the right kind of screw, you can go online to House of Antique Hardware and they have all kinds of restoration hardware; you can order a package of set screws. Not expensive, a few dollars will get you a set of 4. You probably won't find a real set screw at a local hardware store these days, though you might find something that w work temporarily, it won't be flush with the seat in the knob. Even if this isn't the problem, and you need to replace the handleset, you don't need to replace the lock part. It all fits together. When you take it apart, you'll see how it fits together. If you have these lovely antique doors, and if you do actually need a replacement handleset, you owe it to yourself to look for suitable restoration quality hardware. Nothing in the store is going to look right, and you will hate it. The Restoration Hardware people will walk you through the process and make sure you get the right hardware. I don't blame you for being attached to the door. That's why you keep the original hardware if you can. And since it really sounds like a simple missing set screw, there's no reason not to preserve and repair this.
