technically speaking, wouldn‘t a car receive better gas mileage and run faster without any air intake at all? just that it‘s not safe.
Not really, Air intakes are air intakes, and they work just as well as no air intake, except they have the added bonus of having a filter on them with prevents small praticles of dust to get in the engine. Even with modified air intakes, you see only a 2-5 hp increase and maybe 1/2 to 1 mpg at best improvement.
no.while it is true that having better intake will result in better gas mileagethere is a limit.air alone is not combustibleyour still going to need fuel to be mixed in with that air.so no matter how much air you can get in most likely your computer will still spray the same amount of fuel into the intake manifold resulting in the same gas mileage.howeverit will result in more horsepower since you have a better intakekinda like a turbo worksdifference is you can really mess up your engine if you decide to take off your air filter
Yes, but you have to mount the air filter somewhere. And the intake is for that reason. In reality the short air intake (or cold air) has very little resistance. Even the factory air box is plenty good enough if you don't have performance exhausts. Said differently, you get very (VERY) little performance gain, without additional mod (like performance exhaust. good Luck.
